 NWSRA Additional Services
Accessible Swimming Pool Information - Area pools equipped with lifts include Woodfield Lakes
in Schaumburg, Olympic Pool in Arlington Heights, Rec Plex in Mt. Prospect, the Pavilion in
Elk Grove, Harper College in Palatine, and Park Place in Streamwood. Individuals must be
registered for a swim program and should contact NWSRA or the involved park district if use
of the lift is desired.
Audio Taped Brochures - A copy of the NWSRA brochure is available in alternate
form upon request. Please contact our office if you would like to receive any portion of the
brochure in audio format. Forty-eight hours notice is required.
Facilities Provided - NWSRA residents with special needs desiring to secure
a park district facility for a support group meeting or other purpose may call us and we will
try to help.
FREE 1/2 Hour Recreation Counseling - NWSRA staff are available to conduct
half hour private meetings to discuss recreation and leisure opportunities for individuals
with special needs. Interested persons may contact NWSRA to schedule an appointment.
In-Home Programming - $10.00 PER PROGRAM VISIT. NWSRA offers a one to one
program for those who, due to their disability, are unable to participate in NWSRA programs
in the community. A full-time staff member will do an initial home visit to assess the individual's
needs and interests. For more information, call Emily Johnson at (847) 392-2848 (Maximum four
individuals per session).
NWSRA Lending Closet - NWSRA has specialized equipment such as a hand
operated tricycle, bowling ramps, 5 lb. bowling balls, guide rails, and wheelchairs available
for loan on a pre-arranged basis. The loan may have a time limit due to the number available
and its regular program usage. A $25.00 refundable deposit is required at the time of
pick-up. Please call the NWSRA office for further information and to reserve equipment.
Speakers Provided - NWSRA staff members are available to speak to parent,
teacher, social service, or other community groups about NWSRA's available services and
programs.
